What to do first

If the router settings do not open, follow these simple steps:

  • go to the settings from another browser, because your browser is faulty or uses a proxy server that prevents you from accessing the specified address;
  • by unplugging the power supply from the outlet for 15 seconds or more so that all static electricity comes out of the router;
  • restart your computer;
  • open the router settings from another device: phone or tablet.

How to make sure you're entering the correct address

There are instructions on the Internet that you can access the router by entering the address 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. In today's world, only 30% of routers use these IPs for the settings page.

To find out the address of your router settings, turn the device over and read the information. It may vary depending on the manufacturer. Access to the parameters is provided by the following addresses:

How to check on your computer whether a connection is established with the router

Access to settings may be blocked due to lack of connection to the router. There may be a problem with the cable connection ( bad connection the connector with the socket has a pinched or damaged wire) or there is no Wi-Fi connection. It’s very easy to check this: just pay attention to the network indicator, which is located in the lower right corner.

The icon may indicate that:

The last example means that you need to look for a problem at the hardware level.

What to do if there is no connection

If there is no connection to the router, you need to restore it and make sure that everything is done correctly. To configure the router, it is better to use a connection via an Ethernet cable. It should be remembered that routers often have 4 or more ports for network distribution and one for reception. This nest is different in color from others.

The connecting cable must be inserted into the correct socket of the router

In addition, you need to check the power supply of the router. When connected to the network, the device indicators should light up.

Checking the settings for obtaining an IP address

The router settings may not be available due to non-standard IP address settings on the PC. To correct the situation, you need to set automatic so that the computer can determine its network independently:

  1. Press the Win + R key combination, enter the control command in the window that appears and launch it with the “OK” button.

Press the Win + R key combination, enter the control command in the window that appears and launch it with the “OK” button.

  2. Find and open the link “View network status and tasks”.
  3. Call up the “Network Status” window via the link opposite the connection to the router and open “Properties”.

Is the browser proxy enabled?

If a proxy server or similar setting is enabled in your browser or system, this may cause problems when you try to open the router settings.

The proxy group also includes VPN services, browser extensions, and Turbo modes.

The solution to the problem is quite simple: just disable all the above components. To be sure, you also need to check your computer for viruses. Malware may cause discord in system files. The consequence of this may be a failure in the operation of network systems.

What to do if the browser redirects to a search engine

When you try to enter the router settings using the IP address, a search page opens instead of a page with parameters. This happens due to the specific way observers perceive information. Any deviation from the protocol is considered a search request.

If the router address is written incorrectly, the browser sends a request to the search engine

To correct the situation, you need to enter the correct address. We indicate http:// at the beginning of the line, otherwise the program will only recognize numbers. Next, write the address without commas and letters instead of numbers. The correct one would be http://192.168.1.1. Replacing any character in the string will collapse the entire address.

What to do if, after entering the settings, the error “Incorrect login or password” appears

When trying to authenticate, most people make the mistake of entering the standard admin values in both fields. Some devices have these values entered by default, but this is not a permanent phenomenon. Some manufacturers set excellent passwords, for example, “1234”, while others write a separate code for each device.

To find out how to get around the error " Incorrect login or password”, refer to the sticker on the bottom of the router. We carefully read the lines that are reserved for login and password, and have the words admin, user, key, password, and so on in their name.

The router sticker contains the login and password for the device settings

If the values entered from the package also did not correct the situation, the problem is that the default value was replaced by another. In this case, you need to reset the router settings to factory settings. To do this, use the Reset button on the router body.

Resetting is very simple: you need to press and hold the button for 10 seconds (sometimes the settings are restored immediately, depending on the manufacturer). Then we reboot the device and, using the default data, enter the router settings.

Using the Reset button, reset the router settings to factory settings

It is very easy to correct errors when entering the router settings. You just need to diagnose the cause and use one of the instructions suggested above to eliminate it.

This instruction will tell you how to install, connect and configure a Wi-Fi router by logging into the admin panel http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 for D-Link DIR-300 and DIR-615, TP- Link TL-WR740N and TL-WR841N, Tenda N301 and other routers that use these IP addresses to access your Personal Account. This information will be useful for anyone who is setting up a Wi-Fi, Internet or IPTV wireless network in their apartment or private home for the first time.

WiFi router personal account - what is it?!

Login Personal Area WiFi router Setting it up is fairly easy. To do this, simply enter its IP address - http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 - in the address bar of your browser. Many users refer to the web interface as a router website and believe that in order to access it you need an Internet connection. This is wrong. On the contrary, for initial setup It is not recommended to connect the provider cable to the device before the necessary parameters have been specified.

If you don’t know which IP is used on your router - 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 or another - you can use the hint that the manufacturer left for users in the form of a sticker. You can find it on the back or bottom of the case. Here is an example for D-Link DIR-300:

As you can see, the router uses D-Link 192.168.0.1 login admin, password admin.

And here is the sticker on the Rostelecom Sagemcom F@st 2804 v7 router:

On this model, IP is used to log into the web interface 192.168.1.1 admin/admin.

How to further configure the router

So, you managed to go into the router settings and don’t know what to do with it next?! The procedure is usually like this. First you need to set up your Internet connection. This is done in the “WAN” or “Internet” section. To do everything right, first find out technical support your telecom operator - what protocol you are using - PPPoE, IPoE or something else. If you use PPPoE, then you also need a login and password to connect.

If you use a static IP address, then you need information about the address used, mask, gateway and DNS server.

The second step is usually setting up a WiFi network. Everything here is usually easy and simple. You need to come up with a name first wireless network— SSID. Then - the Wi-Fi password. It is better to use as a password key phrase no shorter than 8-10 characters and numbers and letters of the Latin alphabet.

The third stage is setting up IPTV - digital interactive TV. Usually, for this purpose, one of the LAN ports is separated, which is configured for an STB set-top box.

Sometimes for some programs or games to work, it is also necessary to configure port forwarding or other services. After this, the router settings are saved and you can connect the provider’s WAN cable to the connector on the router.

Login 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 - page is unavailable and cannot be opened

Although the process of setting up conventional network devices for home and small office - it’s a relatively simple matter, but users still very often encounter difficulties. This is especially true for beginners. One of the common problems is that when trying to access the router via http://192.168.0.1 (or via http://192.168.1.1), the user receives a “page not found” error and the web interface does not open. To solve this, there are the following methods.

1. Try a different web browser. Often you have to deal with the fact that due to a malfunction or a crooked cache, you cannot access the router from the web browser. Try clearing your cache and cookies. If it doesn't help, use another browser. As practice shows, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are best suited for accessing network device settings via 192.168.0.1. You can also try to login using safe mode browser. In Google Chrome this mode is called "Incognito".

2. Disable antivirus programs and firewall. Very often, the computer cannot access the router due to the fact that for some reason it is blocked by the antivirus. A striking example— Kaspersky Free Antivirus, which has to be completely deactivated to get into the modem or router configurator.

3. Check your network card settings. Very often you have to deal with the fact that users have random addresses specified in their network card parameters. Of course, with such settings, you will not be able to access the router via http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1. To check this, open Windows settings and go to the section Network and Internet | Ethernet. and click on the line “Configure adapter parameters”:

Next on the list network connections select the adapter through which you are connected to the router or modem and right-click on it. Select the “Properties” menu item to open the following window:

Double click on the line IP version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and we see this window:

In most cases, to successfully connect to the router, it is enough to leave receiving addresses in automatic mode. If in this way logging into D-Link, TP-Link or Tenda via 192.168.0.1 is not available, try setting the parameters manually:

We write the values as in the figure:

IP address - 192.168.0.222 mask - 255.255.255.0 Gateway - 192.168.0.1 DNS - 192.168.0.1

Click on the “OK” button and check access to the network device.

4. Try connecting to the router from your phone via wireless WiFi network. For this, many manufacturers even have special mobile applications for setting up routers. For example, TP-Link Tether, D-Link WiFi, Zyxel My.Keenetic, etc.

5. If all else fails, try resetting your router using the Reset button.
It is located on the back of the device. Use a paper clip or pencil to press. You need to hold the Reset button pressed for about 8-10 seconds and then release it.

Setting up a wireless network in DAP-1155

Initially, the wireless network of this router is open. In order to prevent unauthorized access to your wireless Wi-Fi network, I recommend changing standard settings. Let's look at one example in setting up a wireless connection.

1. In the router settings, go to the “Wi-Fi / Security Settings” tab.

2. Find a window called “Network Authentication” and in it select the encoding value WPA2-PSK.

3. In the “Encryption Key” window, enter your invented key - in the future it will be (the password that will be used to access your secure wireless network). I recommend using not only numbers, but also Latin letters in the “PSK Encryption Key” field.

4. In the “WPA encryption” item, select the AES value.

5. Click the “Change” button.

Let's say that the initial setup of the access point was made using a Wi-Fi connection. Having made these changes to the settings that were set by default, you will need to re-authorize with a wireless connection, but using the newly specified parameters. Don't forget to save the security key you created.

The stage of saving settings in the router memory

Upon completion of all the above settings, in order to avoid losing the registered parameters in the router, after a hardware shutdown or reboot, you must save them.

To do this, click on the “System” inscription, which is located in the upper right corner; when you hover, an additional submenu will appear where we select the “Save” item. and Reboot" as shown in the picture below.

At this point, your stage of setting up the router has come to an end, we are waiting for the router to reboot. Congratulations, your access point is ready for use and access to the Internet will now be open. At this point, the setup can be considered complete.

This router has very flexible settings, and if there is a need for additional settings, I recommend that you return to the web interface and configure additional parameters. With respect to you!

Read about old/new DAP-1155 firmware below, at the end of the note.

We will talk about the access point DAP-1155 revision B1 (white case). There are a lot of cries on the Internet about the point being unusable, not configurable, etc.

The fact is that the brief instructions supplied with the DAP-1155 do not indicate that the first connection to the point must be configured manually. And complete instructions are available only on the D-LINK website (link below).

First of all, we need to connect to the access point control panel from a computer. This is usually where problems arise for most users. The fact is that the automatic distribution of IP addresses for a new, just purchased point is disabled. You will not be able to log into the control panel at 192.168.0.50 without manually setting up the connection. This applies to settings both via Ethernet wire and Wi-Fi. For example, on a desktop computer I set up a Wi-Fi connection like this:

The rest (and this too) is described in detail in the instructions for the access point; below is a link to the full version.
