Highscreen Review Prime L: packaging and accessories

The smartphone comes in a box made of thick white cardboard with a classic for the company Highscreen design: on the front side there is a schematic cross-sectional representation of the device indicating the main advantages. On the back of the box, the manufacturer’s logo and the name of the device are duplicated on top, and printed on the bottom Technical information, barcode and QR code.

Under the cover is the smartphone itself, housed in a molded plastic tray. Below it is the delivery kit: removable 2300 mAh battery, charger, USB-micro-USB cable, good quality headset with in-ear headphones, as well as two replaceable back covers - black and blue, while the device itself is immediately put on a bright orange one.

Highscreen Prime L review: appearance

The smartphone is made in the classic candy bar form factor and has a neat, one might say “canonical” design. Of course, bright replaceable covers add to the attractiveness of the device, but otherwise everything is standard.

The front side is almost entirely occupied by a 5-inch HD IPS screen with frames of medium thickness. The earpiece is located above the screen, and to the left of it is the front camera lens. Below the screen there are three standard ones for the OS Android touch buttons.

At the top end of the device there is a 3.5 mm audio output, and at the bottom there is a micro-USB port, which is shifted to the right edge, and a barely noticeable microphone.

On the right side there is a volume rocker and a power/lock button, while the left side is empty.

On the back cover there is the manufacturer's logo, the main speaker grille and the main camera lens with flash. Under the cover there is a removable battery with a capacity of 2300 mAh, as well as two slots for micro-SIM cards and a slot for a memory card.

Highscreen Prime L review: ergonomics

The device has compact dimensions and a fairly thin profile, which allows you to comfortably operate the device with one hand. The power button and volume rocker are located in a standard manner, which also has a positive effect on ergonomics - any user familiar with Android smartphones will instantly get used to the controls. The audio output is also located “classically” - on the top end, so it will seem unusual only to owners of devices with an alternative location at the bottom.

Highscreen Prime L review: screen

The smartphone is equipped with an excellent 5-inch screen on an IPS matrix with HD resolution (1280x720 pixels). The display is covered with scratch-resistant Asahi Glass Dragontrail glass with an oleophobic coating - fingerprints are erased in no time. The screen has the widest possible viewing angles, very high brightness, contrast and color saturation, which is truly impressive considering the low cost of the device. Sometimes even more expensive analogues have matrices that are not of such high quality.

The sensor is quite sensitive, recognizes up to five simultaneous touches, works clearly and without errors - accidental clicks and false positives did not have.

The screen is made using In-Cell technology, i.e. without an air gap and, coupled with a high-quality IPS matrix, it looks just great, despite the far from thinnest side frames. In general, the screen is one of the main advantages of the Prime L smartphone, thanks to which it feels not like a budget model, but a device of a higher class.

Highscreen Prime L review: interface

The device runs on pure Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, without any add-ons or add-ons.

Desktops, application menu, notification shade and panel quick access- nothing has changed, and before us is a classic and very fast android 5.1.

The dialer and message sending interfaces have also remained unchanged.

Highscreen Prime L review: the device in action

The smartphone runs on a quad-core MediaTek processor MT6735 (1.3 GHz) with Mali-T720 graphics accelerator. This solution provides good performance for a budget device - it works very quickly, the interface “flies”, desktops switch smoothly.

In the synthetic AnTuTu test, the device scored an honest 32,475 points - the “average” figure for the market, but at the same time, this is quite enough for comfortable work with applications and various games.

The device coped with the graphically “light” Doodle Jump DC Super Heroes without any problems and produced a stable 60 fps.

In the more graphically advanced game Relic Run, the smartphone also consistently showed about 60 fps.

Complex games in terms of device performance requirements - World of Tanks: Blitz and Godfire - launched without any complaints. In both games the device produced a comfortable 30 fps. No freezes or slowdowns were noticed.

There were also no problems with Full HD video playback, either through the built-in application or through the popular MX Player.

Separately, I would like to note the sound quality in the headphones. None extraneous noise and no wheezing was noticed, even at maximum volume. Clear highs and rich bass will surely please music lovers.

The work also left a pleasant impression conversational dynamics and a microphone, since the interlocutor can be heard clearly, without distortion or wheezing, even in a noisy street near the roadway or in the subway.

Highscreen Prime L review: camera

The device is equipped with two cameras: a main 8 MP (with autofocus, touch focus and LED flash) and a front 5 MP.

In general, the camera app standard for Android 5.1 has some additional functions. It has various effect filters and shooting modes (retouch, HDR, note, pro, filter, night, series, panorama, smart scene, scanner, ultra -detail", GIF and "normal" - standard auto photography mode).

The front camera provides images of good quality, which is quite enough for taking selfies and comfortable video conferencing. Various shooting modes and filters function as with the main camera, and there is also a face recognition function.

The main camera of the smartphone, despite the relatively low resolution of the matrix (8 MP), with good lighting produces enough pictures High Quality. In addition, the camera allows you to continuous shooting with a high frame rate per second, giving very impressive results. All you have to do is hold down the shutter button and a series of pictures will be taken automatically.

The camera allows you to shoot video in Full HD mode (1080p/25 fps). The result is decent.

In general, the impressions from using both cameras of the device are positive, with a slight discount for the fact that the smartphone is still a budget one. I was pleasantly surprised by the serial photography mode - it definitely won’t be superfluous.

Highscreen Prime L review: wireless interfaces

The device is equipped with a standard set of wireless communication modules and supports two micro-SIM cards. In talk mode, the second SIM card goes into standby mode - everything is standard. There are no complaints about working in 3G and LTE networks; the quality of reception depends more on the telecom operator.

The Wi-Fi module supports 802.11 b/g/n standards and ensures reliable signal reception, as when working in home network, and in public places.

The device is also equipped Bluetooth module 4.0 for connecting external peripherals, for example, wireless headset or devices speakerphone for auto. Signal transmission is quite stable at a distance of up to 20 meters.

The advantage is that it supports two satellite systems- GPS and GLONASS - which ensures reliable signal reception at high speeds in the car, even in cloudy weather and overcast. During a “cold” start, it takes 40-45 seconds to search for satellites. There were also no problems with navigation - the test was carried out in popular app Yandex.Navigator and the results did not disappoint at all.

Highscreen Prime L review: battery life

The smartphone is equipped removable battery with a capacity of 2300 mAh - this figure is not the most impressive, but among budget devices there are often devices with a smaller battery capacity.

In practice, thanks to not too “gluttonous” hardware and a “pure” OS without add-ons, the device is able to remain in working condition for quite a long time.

In standby mode, the smartphone could not be completely discharged even after four days, despite the fact that all communication modules, except GPS, were turned on.

When watching movies at maximum screen brightness and speaker volume, the device stays afloat for more than six hours. When actively using the device as a game console - from three to five hours, depending on the load. For example, an hour of completing tracks in Asphalt 8 “took” 17% of the battery’s charge. When listening to music, the average battery life was about eight hours.

Based on the test results, we can say with confidence that the battery charge will be sufficient for a whole working day with active use.

If the user is going on a long trip without access to an outlet, nothing prevents you from purchasing a spare battery to promptly replace a dead battery. Therefore, in general, the impressions of the autonomy of the smartphone are only positive, for which the device receives another “plus in the piggy bank”.

Highscreen Prime L review: results

I would like to note that throughout the test period, Highscreen Prime L pleasantly surprised with its functionality, as well as very smooth and fast operation, as when using standard applications, and when checking multimedia capabilities device Prime smartphone L turned out to be a universal “workhorse”. Thanks to its compact size and light weight, it is perfect for both men and women fair half humanity. Multi-colored back covers add bright colors to the design of the device.

Julia the Magnificent (PhD)

So you ask me, what should my ideal phone be like? And I will answer: square, blue (well, I’m a girl!), and it should cost no more than 15 thousand rubles, because I cannot understand and accept phones that cost the monthly salary of an office worker. Here they correct me, of course, not square, but rectangular, but the shapes of all phones are now rectangular, and a square is a special case of a rectangle.

So what was my joy that I was entrusted with testing the new Highscreen Prime L smartphone. No (what do you mean no?! – Yes! – editor’s note), it was initially black, but the caring manufacturer equips this device with replaceable rear panels. You put on a blue panel - and you have a girl’s smartphone, an orange - a teenage model, a black - and the device becomes an indispensable accessory for that same office worker. The only thing missing is a red panel for true ladies, well, you can’t please everyone with just one model (I’m afraid to imagine such a lady. – editor’s note).

In all other respects, the equipment is quite ordinary: adapter, cable, headphones (in my opinion, not the most comfortable, but in any case I use headphones from some old ancient phone), instructions (if, of course, in the modern world someone has them reads before the breakdown, not after).

Now in this place I have to write a little technical characteristics(mostly boys read Upgrade): Android 5.1 OS (I’m an Android fan, so they pleased me here too); display 5 inches (for a larger size it is quite problematic to choose a handbag case), resolution 1280x720 - the screen is bright, the colors are saturated; 4-core processor, MediaTek MT6735, 1.3 GHz (I don’t really understand what this is about, but everything works quickly, without brakes); size random access memory 2 GB, size permanent memory 16 GB, microSD expansion slot, SDHC compatible.

I wrote some important numbers and letters, and now I have feelings. Everything on the phone is familiar and understandable. Thin body (it creaks, though slightly, if you squeeze hard, but not critical), smooth back cover(tested mainly with a blue panel), the power and volume buttons are on the right side (otherwise Lately Manufacturers like to be original and push these buttons on the left or at the back, you need to make them at the bottom just to really blow the minds of the consumer!), connector for charger below, for headphones above, I repeat, everything is very convenient.

Next, what is important to the girl? That's right, camera! Moreover, not only the main one, but also the front one (selfies haven’t been banned yet! – But in vain! – Ed.) The main camera is 8 MP, front-camera 5 MP: the photos come out very decent. The pre-installed viewer has a photo editing mode, you can immediately cut off excess, adjust brightness and contrast, and apply a filter. Sometimes at work you need to quickly photograph some documents; Highscreen Prime L coped with this task well.

The battery capacity is 2300 mAh, it lives in normal mode - a little talking, a little social networks - for a day and a half.

One of the nice things is the ability to use two SIM cards. True, I’ve had one number for about 12 years now, but you never know, I’ll have to go abroad somewhere and get a local SIM card there. You will not need to take with you an additional device, FM radio, G-sensor accelerometer (you can install a pedometer application, and not spend money on a fitness bracelet).

In general, to sum it up - for 9990 rubles the device is finally normal! Works clearly and quickly. Pleasant to the eye and hands. So, dear readers, if you want to please your girlfriend with a blue (or orange, or black) miracle, I think you can safely purchase this copy. And you can afford such a gift to yourself.

We will talk about all this in detail below.

How to create a backup?

How to do a full data reset on a Highscreen Prime L phone from the settings menu?

Attention! Due to FRP (Factory Reset Protection, that is, reset protection), Android will ask you to enter the login and password of the account that was assigned before the Hard Reset procedure. Therefore, if you are planning to sell a smartphone, you need to get out of account Google ("Settings" - "Accounts" - "Google" - "Delete account") before resetting, so that the person who receives your phone can activate their profile on it.

Given the wide range of Android phones and the difficulty of describing the factory reset process for specific model, we will show the guide using the example of three fundamental different devices and firmware:

  • Mi A1 on pure Android, which is also used in Nokia, Motorola, OnePlus (has a slightly redesigned system) and in all devices released with the program Android One;
  • Galaxy S7, which operates under Samsung control Experience. Let us recall that the Korean corporation - largest producer smartphones in the world, so it makes sense to show this shell;
  • Redmi Note 5 on MIUI. The products of this company are in great demand in the CIS, so we could not ignore it.

The easiest way to perform a Hard Reset is through a special menu in the system parameters. Once again, we note that the location and name of the items may differ slightly depending on the phone used. The main thing is to find the main category for recovery and reset.

Xiaomi Mi A1 (pure Android 8.1 Oreo)

The device will reboot and you will need to go through again initial setup as if it were a new phone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 (Samsung Experience shell)

Your phone will restart. All that remains is to configure it as after purchase.

Redmi Note 5 (MIUI firmware)

Attention! As you can see, the main thing is to find the “Reset” section. To ensure that you don’t get lost in all the parameters when looking for the right menu, it’s easier to home page Enter the query “Reset” into the search window. Select the menu you are looking for from the list provided and you will be taken straight to it. And then everything is as in the instructions.

How to Hard Reset Highscreen Prime L via Recovery?

This current method, if there is a malfunction on the phone that prevents it from loading. It is for such cases that a recovery mode is needed, through which you will need to perform a Hard Reset.

Once the reset is complete, the device will reboot and display a standard welcome and settings window. Again, menu names may vary slightly depending on the model.
