Linear sensors based on LINARIX rotation encoders. Autonics absolute encoders Design and features of linear sensors based on rotation encoders

TR-Electronic is one of the leading companies in the global market, a manufacturer of industrial automation components, namely in the design and production of digital motion measurement technologies. The company was founded in 1983, its activities were the development and manufacture of absolute readout sensors. In 1992, the subsidiary TR-Systemtechnik GmbH was founded. In 1996, Unidor Industrieelektronik GmbH was acquired. And in October 2008, the two companies merged and the name changed to TR-Electronic.

Today the company's headquarters are located in Trossingen, Germany. TR group is represented by subsidiaries, sales representatives and branches in more than 30 countries. The number of employees working at TR-Electronic exceeds 300 people. The company produces a wide range of products, which include incremental and absolute encoders, magnetostrictive displacement measurement systems, transducers, laser rangefinders and other products. In addition, TR-Electronic offers systems and ready-made solutions in the field of automation and drive technology.

Linear encoders for position/motion control of components and assemblies, providing length measurements up to 15 m, with a wide choice of digital and analogue interfaces and a rugged, compact design.

Linear sensors LINARIX have a compact, very robust design, provide length/path measurements up to 10m and are available in various configurations. Various mechanical options for encoders also provide a wide range of interfaces.

Design and features of linear sensors based on rotation encoders

LINARIX POSITAL pull-out linear cable encoders measure linear motion by displacing a pull-out steel cable wound around a drum that drives the encoder shaft connected to it. The encoder, in turn, generates an output signal proportional to the movement. The measurements are highly accurate and reliable, and the measuring systems themselves are different long term operation. The LINARIX series offers a wide range of measuring lengths up to 15 m and also provides linear position output in digital format (all common interfaces) or analog signal.
Compared with traditional linear potentiometers and other measuring systems, LINARIX series linear encoders are more reliable and durable. In addition, the use of LINARIX series encoders eliminates common problems associated with, for example, measuring wheel slippage and/or wear of the measuring system. POSITAL pull-wire sensors provide extremely accurate measurements thanks to the inherent precision of encoders, and the rugged design ensures reliable operation even in extremely difficult conditions.

Linear encoders configurator

Using the configurator (see below), you can quickly and conveniently select a linear encoder with the required characteristics and configure the order key.
Attention! To see the search/selection result, depending on your screen resolution, you may need to scroll down the configurator window.

We offer our customers absolute encoders manufactured by Autonics.

Unlike incremental encoders, absolute encoders allow you to determine the angle of rotation of the axis even in the event of a power failure and restoration and do not require the object to be returned to starting position. The absolute encoder signal is not subject to noise or vibration and is therefore less critical to imprecise shaft alignment. The use of absolute encoders reduces the number and length of cables and reduces the cost of equipment (since there is no need to use boundary sensors and a zero mark sensor).

Our assortment includes Various types absolute encoders manufactured by Autonics.

Single-turn absolute encoders

Such encoders can be called a rotation angle sensor because it measures the angle of rotation of the shaft within one revolution (360°). There are several series of absolute encoders of this type:

ENP series

Encoders with protection from external dynamic loads.

  • Sensor diameter: 60mm
  • Resolution: 6 to 360 pulses per revolution
  • Max. frequency: 20 kHz

EP58 Series

The front mount housing design of these encoders allows for easy installation.

  • Sensor diameter: 58mm
  • Resolution: 45/90/180/360/720 and 64/128/256/512/1024 pulses per revolution
  • Max. frequency: 35 kHz
  • Supply voltage: 5 V, 12 - 24 V DC. current

EP50S/EP50SP series (plastic case)

Encoders in this series are compact in size, have high resolution (up to 1024) and support various output code options (BCD, Binary, Gray code).

  • Sensor diameter: 50mm
  • Resolution: 6 to 1024 pulses per revolution
  • Max. frequency: 35 kHz
  • Supply voltage: 5 V, 12 - 24 V DC. current

Multi-turn encoders EPM50

They allow you to track not only the angle of rotation of the shaft, but also the number of revolutions made with a resolution of 23 bits and high accuracy. In addition, the series includes models that support parallel and serial (SSI) interfaces, so the customer can choose the product that suits him best. The EPM50 series sensors are suitable for controlling industrial robots or high-precision motors.

  • Sensor diameter: 50mm
  • Resolution: 23 bits (8,388,608 divisions):
  • one revolution - 10 bits (1024 divisions),
  • more than one revolution - 13 bits (8192 divisions)
  • Max. frequency: 50 kHz

Linear cable encoders EWLS50 series

Pull-wire linear encoders measure linear motion by displacing a pull-out steel cable wound around a drum that drives the encoder connected to it. The encoder generates an output signal proportional to the displacement. The measurements are highly accurate and reliable, and the measuring systems themselves have a long service life. The EWLS50 series provides 13-bit position output as standard binary code, and in the Gray code. The encoder also has an overflow signal output and a reset input.

  • Sensor diameter: 50mm
  • Resolution: 5120 divisions by 512 mm
  • Max. frequency: 50 kHz
  • Supply voltage: 12 - 24 V DC current

Due to their properties, absolute encoders are widely used in robotics systems, CNC machines, conveyor systems, printing and cutting machines, filling and packaging equipment and other high-precision areas.
