How to disassemble an iPhone at home. Complete disassembly of the iPhone iPhone 5 in disassembled form

Owners of iPhone 5 and 5S are wondering how to disassemble the phone. Time does not spare even the most best devices: the panel may become frayed (especially on black models), the sensor may fail, and those who like to “swim” may have problems with the hardware. To replace iPhone parts, you need to know the internal structure and be able to disassemble the device.

What do we need?

Before you start disassembling, set aside enough time for this and stock up on all the necessary tools. This iPhone disassembly kit can be purchased at any specialized online store:

  • Pentalob five-blade screwdriver (without it, the bolts are unlikely to yield to you);
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • vacuum suction cup;
  • plastic spatula for disassembling the case (or something similar).

Step-by-step instruction

1. The first thing we need to do is unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the case, on the sides of the Lightning connector. iPhone 4 used Phillips screws, later ones Apple versions To prevent self-disassembly of phones, developers began to use special five-leaf Pentalob bolts.

If you don't have a special screwdriver for them, you can try using a five-pointed star or take a flat one and sharpen it with a file on the sides. But be careful, if you use non-standard means you can grind off the bolt heads. Just in case, it is better to stock up on bolts of the same size, but with a cross-shaped head.

2. Using a vacuum suction cup, slightly lift the screen, helping yourself with a plastic spatula. Why a spatula and not a screwdriver? Thus, we reduce the likelihood of damage to the iPhone case or screen. This can be done without the help of a suction cup, by hooking something (some use a needle) on the top panel, but extreme caution must be used.

3. Carefully lift the screen from the side of the “Home” button. At this step, the first differences between the 5 and 5S models appear. On the iPhone 5, the front panel simply rises to form an almost right angle with the body.

On the iPhone 5S the situation is more complicated. The screen is attached to the motherboard with a cable, so do not lift it suddenly. You need to disconnect the cable before further work using a plastic spatula. And after that, raise the screen, as in version 5.

4. To finally disconnect the screen, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold it in place.

Then carefully pick it up with a spatula.

The iPhone is divided into two parts, each of which can be disassembled into several more components.

5. Let's pay attention to the display panel. Unscrew the “Home” button. It is the same in both models.

6. At the top of the front panel, the 5 and 5S models again have differences. The 5S has a camera, a proximity sensor and a speaker, which are removed after removing the mounting plate.

U 5 iPhone versions The mount has an auditory speaker, which is held on by two screws and spring contacts. The front camera can be simply removed if necessary; it is held on by a cable.

7. Last action with the front panel - getting rid of metal protection.

8. Let's move on to the device body. The first step is to get rid of the battery so as not to get an electric shock. We disconnect the cable from the board with a plastic spatula.

Using the same tool, we pry up the battery and pull the label (it is missing in the 5S, so we only use a spatula). If the battery does not budge the first time, there is no need to be alarmed, it is glued. The glue is not too strong, so the battery will give in easily with a little more force.

9. Disconnect the main camera in version 5. It is held on by two screws; after removing them, the chamber is free. In 5S it is in this state initially.

10. The next step is to remove motherboard. There is no difference between the iPhone 5 and 5S. Disconnect the antenna connector module from the motherboard. Unscrew the screws securing the board to the case and the contacts on the inner wall. Carefully remove the motherboard.

11. There is a processor on the motherboard: A6 for 5 and A7 for 5S. When disassembling for the first time, you will need to remove the protective film.

12. Let's continue disassembling the case. At the bottom there is a headphone jack, speaker, Wi-Fi antenna (for version 5) and the bottom microphone - all this is attached to the Lightning connector. We get rid of the mass of glue with a plastic spatula.

Remaining parts on the top of the case

14. As a result, we get a disassembled phone. You can reassemble your device by following the same instructions in reverse order.

Version 5S looks like this:

Possible mistakes

  • You are entirely responsible for assembling and disassembling the device. If you doubt that you will succeed, take it to the service center - the specialists will help.
  • At self-disassembly devices, remember the warranty period. Once you open the case yourself, the warranty is automatically void; subsequent repairs will be at your expense.
  • Don't skimp on special tools: they will cost less than repairing or buying a new phone.
  • Do not make any sudden movements; with your careless actions you can tear off the cable or break particularly fragile parts of the iPhone.

iPhone 5 disassembly instructions

Disassembling an iPhone 5 may affect a number of parts. There is a whole list of parts that can be replaced when disassembling the phone. Among them:

  • Audio control and power button cable;
  • Display block;
  • Speaker;
  • Front clip panel;
  • Battery;
  • Front panel;
  • Home button;
  • Home button rubber cable;
  • Connection cable;
  • LCD protective panel;
  • Lighting jack and headphone port;
  • Motherboard;
  • Power button;
  • Rear camera;

Attach the suction cup above the home button. It is necessary that the bowl completely covers the display so that the seal becomes airtight.

When opening a phone with cracked glass, carefully peel a couple of strips of packing tape across the front of the phone and release any air from under the film.

While holding the phone down on one side, pull up on the suction cup to slightly separate the front panel assembly. Apply firm, consistent effort. The display unit is attached much more tightly than most devices.

Use a plastic screwdriver to start pulling back cover down, away from the display unit, while you lift the suction cup.

Locate the clips that hold the front panel assembly in place. You'll probably need to use a combination of a suction cup and a plastic screwdriver to loosen the front panel assembly. Lift the sides of the front panel by removing the clips on both sides.

Once you have released the clips on the bottom and sides of the panel assembly, remove the bottom section. Slowly lift the panel assembly from the front until it reaches approximately a sharp corner.

Unscrew the 1.2 and 1.6 mm screws without touching the front panel wire bracket to motherboard. From the front, disconnect the panel cable bracket. Using a plastic screwdriver, remove the 3 front panel wires: Front camera, sensitivity cable, LCD sensor and digital cable. Remove the front panel.

Remove the 1.8 and 1.6mm screws securing the metal battery bracket from the motherboard and remove it from the iPhone. Remove the battery.

Using the tip of a screwdriver, pull the data antenna cable disconnect above the speaker shell out of its socket on the motherboard. Remove the 1.5 and 2.3 mm screws and bracket from the top.

Interconnect cable on top;

Cable button with connectors;

Bottom interconnect cable.

Disconnect the parts in the following order:

2 screws 1.3 mm from the inner upper part of the housing wall;

1 1.2mm screw remaining in the middle of the motherboard bracket;

Bracket for the middle section from the motherboard.

Use a special screwdriver to pry the light cable connector out of the motherboard socket and pull the cable back and to the side.

To understand how the iPhone 5 is disassembled, you will need a few more shenanigans. Push the SIM card output on the right side of the iPhone using a curved paperclip to open the SIM card slot. Take it out.

Remove the 2.3mm and STANDOFF 2.7mm screw while holding the motherboard. Turn the motherboard assembly towards the battery side rear housing. Using the tip of a special screwdriver, tear out wifi cable antennas from the socket on the underside of the motherboard. Pull out the motherboard connector. Using the tip of a screwdriver, lift up the rubber bumper, it is located below the power button.

Remove the 1.6mm and 1.9mm screws and the 2.9mm STANDOFF screw from the metal bracket between the rear flash and the camera window. Remove the metal power button bracket. Use the tip of a screwdriver to flip the metal bracket over while holding the power switch.

Press down on the power button on the front of the phone with the tip of a screwdriver, then remove the power button. Unscrew the 2.3 mm, 1.7 and 1.6 mm screws, securing the vibrator and vibrator bracket from the housing. Remove the 1.5 and 1.8 mm screws while holding the volume button and the ringer mute bracket on the side of the back cover:

We disconnect the bell switch using the usual method. Next, disconnect the volume buttons. Next is the power button bracket. Disconnect the cable from the glue. Continue to disconnect the audio control cable upwards from the back of the case.

Now you know how to disassemble an iPhone 5. Not difficult, right? ☺

Disassembling the fifth iPhone has some of its own characteristics compared to the third and fourth models. These include the mandatory presence of a special vacuum suction cup, which is not at all necessary for disassembling previous models.

So why might you need knowledge of how to disassemble an iPhone 5? The most common reason is replacing a cracked screen. In order to install a new sensor, you will need to remove the old one. But first, you still need to figure out what the famous fifth iPhone consists of.

The main components of an iPhone

To correctly disassemble an expensive device, you need not to confuse anything in its “stuffing” and know exactly what is being removed and how, and also do not forget about the sequence of actions. Below is a list of iPhone components that will have to be dismantled in the future, or at least not damaged:

  • 4-inch diagonal display with a resolution of 1136×640 pixels;
  • single-chip system from Apple A6;
  • 8 megapixel camera;
  • eight pin connector;
  • support device wireless communication 4G LTE.

Removing the display correctly

To remove a cracked Retina display, first you need to unscrew the two five-blade screws that are located on the bottom edge of the iPhone. After this, remove the display.

Attention: you don’t need to try to pick it up or pry it with anything! For this purpose it is used special tool in the form of a rubber suction cup, which can be bought in specialized stores or ordered online. Press the suction cup firmly against the display and pull it towards you. The panel remains on the suction cup and you can begin further disassembly.

Another tool you will need is a miniature pentagonal screwdriver. Only with its help can you properly unscrew all the screws in the fifth iPhone. Again, no need to try to use any other devices. Also, you should get a plastic or iron spatula in advance, with which we will pry off the connectors and modules.

Removing the display module

Below the display there are many parts and screws that need to be worked on. Next we perform the following steps:

  1. Unscrew the 3 screws that secure the cable shield display module, we remove it.
  2. Use a spatula to unclip the connector of the upper module and the sensor connector located under it.
  3. We unscrew the 3 screws and remove the screen that secures the battery connector, carefully unclip its connector and remove the battery itself.
  4. Remove the screen securing the connector of the lower module. To do this, unscrew the two screws holding it in place. Unsnap the connector.
  5. Remove the SIM tray from the side panel.
  6. We unclip the connector of the lower button cable and its cables.
  7. Unscrew the screws in the phone case and the two end screws.
  8. Disconnect the cable and lift the board. Use tweezers to disconnect another cable.
  9. At the top of the board there is a screen that secures the camera module. We're filming that too.
  10. Unscrew the screws securing the lower module.
  11. Peel off the cable with the contacts of the “Home” button and remove its block.
  12. We remove the bottom cable, which has a digital connector, a headset connector and a microphone.
  13. Unscrew the Home button screen and remove the button itself.
  14. We remove the screen of the upper loop, the auditory speaker and the upper loop.
  15. We unscrew the screws that secure the display module screen and remove the metal panel.

Version in pictures

Apple announced the release of the new iPhone 5s model on September 10, 2013. Disassembling the iPhone 5s is similar to previous models and requires screwdrivers and a special tool with Velcro.

First we deal with the screen. If there are cracks on it, protect your phone from their further spread and cover the entire front surface with a plaster. This way, pieces of glass will not fly apart when you lift the panel using Velcro. It is advisable to wear safety glasses to avoid getting shrapnel in your eyes.

Below, next to the light connector, there are two 3.8 mm screws that you need to unscrew. Next, the most interesting thing is the procedure for opening a mobile phone using a special iSclack device. If you are interested in how to disassemble an iPhone 5s, then you should definitely purchase this gadget.

Video instructions for disassembling iPhone 5s step by step

So, bring the iSclack to the phone and squeeze the handles together, at the other end the Velcro opens. Place the iPhone between the suction cups, right above the home button. To close the device, open the handles and press firmly until everything is well secured. Then repeat the maneuvers from the very beginning. The iSclack handles close and the top display panel rises.

If you do not have the opportunity to purchase this gadget, use a regular suction cup. Press it firmly against the phone, holding the iPhone, lift the panel up and, holding the bottom with a screwdriver, separate the two parts from each other. Since the parts are held together quite tightly, take your time and apply more effort. When done, pull the Velcro up, releasing the air, and carefully remove it.

Now you lift up the home button to access the ports on the top of the phone and hold the top panel at a 90-degree angle as you follow the instructions.

Remove the following screws holding the protective bracket in place:

  • Two 1.3 mm
  • One 1.7 mm
  • One 3.25 mm

At this point during assembly, it is extremely important to keep an eye on the 1.7mm and 3.25mm screws. If you mix them up, you will seriously damage the motherboard and the phone will no longer boot properly. During assembly, be careful not to tighten the screws too much. If they are tight, you must have mixed them up.

Afterwards, remove the protective bracket from the mimic diagram. Using a plastic screwdriver, disconnect front camera, touch cable and LCD. We suggest you double check that all elements are removed before lifting the entire top panel.

During assembly, the LCD cable may burn its connector, resulting in a blank screen or white lines on the display that are caused by a loose connection. If this happens, reconnect the cable and restart your phone. The main way to solve the problem is to remove and reinsert the battery.

The next step is to remove the battery. A metal connector from the battery is attached to the board, from which you need to unscrew two 1.6 mm screws and remove the panel. Using the flat edge of a screwdriver, pry the battery connector out of the motherboard. And lightly walk between the headphone jack, pull out the tip of the adhesive tab and pull it.

Don't twist the tab, try to keep it as flat and wide as possible. Carefully pull out the adhesive strip without touching other parts of the phone to avoid tearing it.

There is another way to remove the battery. Attach the iOpener to the back mobile device and heat the glue. Place the hot bag on the phone for 90 seconds, to the right of the camera, and smooth it out. Carefully slide the plastic card under the battery near the motherboard, pushing it from all sides.

From now on, you know in every detail how to disassemble an iPhone 5s.

Any technique, unfortunately, is not eternal. With all devices, sooner or later, problems begin or they completely fail. The super popular smartphones from Apple are no exception. Despite high level iPhone quality, they also have malfunctions. Of course, in most cases the users themselves are to blame. Perhaps everyone has dropped their phone on the floor at least once, and for some, the device has already been in water. Whatever the problem with your iPhone, it can be fixed. If you do not wish to contact service centers or other companies that provide phone repair services, you can do it yourself at home. All you need is to have the necessary equipment and some skill. In this article we will figure out how to disassemble an iPhone yourself. Let's get started. Go!

If you disassemble your iPhone, you do so entirely at your own risk.

First of all, you need to decide on all the necessary tools. A special set with all the tools can be easily ordered in the online store. At a minimum it should contain:

  • Pentalob screwdriver with five blades;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • a plastic spatula with which to pry off certain parts (you can use something similar);
  • vacuum suction cup (or a simple suction cup, like on small toys or car key rings).

In principle, this will be enough to disassemble the iPhone without any problems.

Now let's move on directly to the disassembly procedure itself.

  1. You need to start from the bottom panel. Remove the screws located near the lightning connector using a five-blade screwdriver. This is true for iPhone5/5S and newer. If you have an iPhone 4/4S, then use a regular Phillips screwdriver.
  2. Once you have the screws removed, use the suction cup to lift up the screen. This is done from below, next to the “Home” button. If you can't do this easily, use a plastic spatula to help yourself. Please note that it is highly not recommended to use a screwdriver for these purposes, as you can damage the case with it. Use items made from softer materials. The plastic fits perfectly.
  3. You should lift the screen carefully, since in the iPhone 5S, unlike older models, the display is connected by a cable to the motherboard. So, if you have a 5S, there is no need to rush. Use a plastic spatula and carefully remove the cable. After this, you can safely lift the top panel.
  4. Lifting the top panel and display so that it is at a right angle, remove two more screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Carefully pry up with a spatula and remove the entire top panel.
  5. Now that your iPhone is divided into two halves, unscrew the screws that hold the Home button and remove it.
  6. At the top of the device, things are a little different on the 5 and 5S models. The iPhone 5 has a speaker on the mount, secured with two screws and spring contacts. If necessary, remove the front camera, which is attached with a cable. In the iPhone 5S, you can remove the speaker, proximity sensor and camera only after you remove the special mounting plate.
  7. The next step is to remove the metal protection secured with screws.
  8. Now you can work on the body of the smartphone. To avoid electric shock, remove the battery. Using a spudger, disconnect the cable that connects the battery to the motherboard. Next, pry up the battery itself and pull the label. Please note that it may be glued, so don't be afraid to use a little force.
  9. The next step is to remove the main camera. In the 5th model it is securely fastened with screws, but in the 5S it is in an unsecured state.
  10. After this, remove the motherboard. First, disconnect the antenna connector module from the board. Then unscrew the screws holding the board, as well as the contacts near the inner wall. Now carefully remove the motherboard.
  11. Remove the special film from the processor. And then the processor itself.
  12. At the bottom of the case there is a headphone jack, a Wi-Fi antenna (in the 5th iPhone) and a microphone. All these elements are attached to the lightning connector. Remove the glue with a spatula. Please note that these elements cannot be replaced individually; they can only be replaced all together, even if one of them fails.
  13. At the top you will find a vibration motor, as well as GPS and Wi-Fi antennas.
  14. Ready. You have completely disassembled your iPhone.

Disassembly of iPhone 4S and newer models is similar, with the minor differences noted above.

Keep in mind that you carry out all actions of this kind at your own peril and risk. Opening the device yourself will void the warranty. Therefore, you should not try to repair your smartphone yourself if you are not confident in your abilities.
